The Town of Bracebridge is reviewing the feasibility of building a pump track in Bracebridge and has included this review in the 2021 Municipal Budget and Business Plan Projects.
A pump track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders “pumping” and generating momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedaling or pushing. The idea of a pump track is to use this pumping motion to maintain your speed around the track without pedaling.
Pump tracks can be used by people of all skill levels with various styles of bikes including road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX bikes, and specialty bikes. Enthusiasts often say to people new to the sport that the best bike is the one you own. Pump tracks are also safe and fun for younger riders and people of all skill levels, including people with disabilities. Pump tracks are also great for individuals to get comfortable with riding a skateboard, including various types of skateboards such as street decks, cruisers small or large to surf skateboards.
Pump tracks have become common in municipalities across the country, no different than the development of other outdoor recreational activities like skateboard parks, multi-sport court surfaces, ball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer fields, outdoor rinks, walking trails and playgrounds.
Each pump track is unique and encourages healthy, physical activity in an outdoor environment for all ages. Riders enjoy an increase in self-confidence, improved concentration, and benefit from social interaction that increases the quality of life.
If you are new to the concept of a pump track, have a look at the sample video below.

We are already working towards being a fantastic family oriented cycling community with 3 great trail systems. This would be an amazing addition.

Absolutely, yes. This is what we need and there are not many barriers to entry. This outdoor park and an indoor bike park would be perfect.
