Consultation has concluded

The Town of Bracebridge, in partnership with Muskoka Off Road Cycling Association (MORCA), are proposing improvements to a section of the South Monck/Covered Bridge Trail behind the Meadow Heights subdivision. This trail is approximately eight kilometers in length, travelling along open fields and through a forested area with diverse terrain, and provides a variety of recreational opportunities including hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and nature enjoyment.

To ensure the safe enjoyment of trail users moving forward, there are a number of repairs and enhancements to be made, including:

  • Restoring the existing trails;
  • Completing informal routes;
  • Installing wayfinding signage; and
  • Developing new single-track mountain bike trails.

In addition to these proposed changes, this trail is identified as an area for potential improvement in the Recreation Parks and Trails Master Plan, and includes:

  • The consideration for dedicated mountain biking trails, new routes and formalization of existing informal routes, with signage and feature development; and
  • Ongoing promotion of mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking/hiking as primary trail activities and opportunities to engage in activities to support health and wellness.

These proposed enhancements are planned for the area behind the Meadow Heights subdivision and are anticipated to begin in 2024.
